WHAT IS MYOM?
Fibroid is a benign tumor of the uterus. Fibroids originate in the muscle layer of the uterus. They form masses just like lipomas in the skin. They can be single or multiple.
WHY DO MYOMS OCCUR?
Although the exact reason for the formation of fibroids is not known exactly, some factors may increase the risk of formation of fibroids. Factors such as genetics, age at first menstruation, number of pregnancies can trigger the development of uterine fibroids. It is known that the growth rate of fibroids estrogen and progesterone hormones are affected.
WHAT SYMPTOMS DO FIOMOMES GIVE?
Most fibroids do not cause any symptoms. They are detected by gynecological examination and ultrasound. Sometimes they can cause symptoms such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, excessive menstrual bleeding, groin pain, recurrent miscarriages, and chronic anemia.
SHOULD FIOMOMS MUST BE TREATED?
No. The vast majority of fibroids do not require any treatment.
WHICH FIOMOMES SHOULD BE TREATED?
Treatment is recommended for fibroids if the following conditions are present:
If they cause excessive or irregular menstrual bleeding.
If they cause bloating, pain or pressure in the abdomen
If they are growing too fast,
treatment is required.
HOW SHOULD MYOMS BE TREATED?
The most definitive treatment method for fibroids is surgical removal. This surgery can be closed operation (laparoscopy, robotic surgery) or open operation (such as cesarean section). The type of operation is planned according to the size, number, location of fibroids, previous operations and the experience of the surgeon.
